Shahrukh Khan Detained Two Hours at Newark Airport for being a Khan

Indian film star Shahrukh Khan said he was detained for two hours at Newark Airport, New Jersey USA just because of his Muslim name. Khan was questioned at the airport and then released after the Indian embassy in the U.S. intervened. Immigration officers wanted to know why Khan was visiting the US.

“Khan is a Muslim name, and I think the name is common on their checklist”

“I was waiting for my bags. I thought it was nice of them to take me to another room, but that was apparently a second check. I had my papers in order.”

The Indian actor was going to Chicago to celebrate India’s Independence day.
